The Handcrafter's Lair is an artisan based business owned and operated from northern Utah. We are most well known for the ways we create unique experience packages for those who enjoy sensory adventures that can have you skipping along a mint strewn forest path with the fairies, convinced you are about to meet Mr Darcy in a sunlight-warmed sitting room, or reveling in the decadence that Mr. Wonka found along his chocolate river all from the comfort of your own home and fuzzy slippers. We do this through our own handcrafted blends of natural botanical soap and bath products, fiber fun crocheted critters, knit fashion accessories, or patterns and designs, and chainmaille & magnetic jewelry which are also frequently combined.

This fun experience is one based upon the creations of John and Rachel Martin and Shannon Babb. While the 3 of us are all very good friends with interests, abilities, and skills in common, we each have our own specialties and focuses.
Shannon is the mad chemist of the group. Her educational background includes studies in chemistry, geology, hydrology, pedology, and limnology...in short, she spent her university career making complex mud pies "very intelligently". Her current work involves coordination community and ecological needs to maintain water health, freelance writing a variety of nonfiction and fiction, and continuing her university studies while spoiling all of us with her amazing additions to the Lair business with her traditional medical knowledge, fiber loving, and wand making magic fingers.
John and Rachel are childhood best friends that grew up to get married and who are learning to truly enjoy the chaos of a live-in 3 ring circus (5 kids, 2 cats, and 1 dog really keep the entertainment in high gear) while working from home.
-John has professionally worked in kitchens ranging from fast food to 4 star for 20 years before making a job shift only a couple of years ago. He has a deep love of and practice in horticulture and landscaping, as well as for finished carpentry and working with whorls of wood. He also has a background in working as a kind of catch-all handyman with construction, mechanics, and is our current Master of the Chainmaille (and absolute sanity saver) and major production source for our bath & body products.
-Rachel is basically the business office monkey and primary schlepper. She is also the crochet designer, with a background in studying history, music, folklore, event planning, and feeding cosplay touches to Shannon (who is typically the cosplay designer for the group).
